Orion’s Sit-Rep – Blog Introduction
Hello World!
Welcome to Orion’s first blog post!
We are starting this blog – The Sit-Rep! – to better connect and share with our clients and engineering communities. We have so much behind the scenes that we’ve never been able to share before. You may be curious about what to expect from the blog – or what the heck Sit-Rep means?
– Let’s Get Into It –
“Well, what’s ‘Sit-Rep’?”
Sit-Rep is a common term used in the armed forces; a shortened term to replace “Situation – Report.” The most common use of “sit-rep” is for requesting a status update from your team or the casual “what’s up.”
Since our work environment varies from in the field at a job site, in the office, or working remotely, getting the Sit-Rep lets the team stay connected and know of Orion’s daily procedures.
“Ah, okay. So why Sit-Rep? Why not what’s up?”
Funny, you should ask.
Orion Engineers, PLLC (Orion) is a civil/structural + construction engineering consulting firm and, importantly, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) based in the Midwest. Our team of engineers has significant experience providing high-quality engineering services to government and private clients throughout the nation.
Initially formed in 2015, Orion was founded to make a difference to our employees, clients, and fellow military veterans who bravely served our country. The company comprises 25% of Veterans who have served in the U.S. Marines, Navy, Army, or National Guard.
“I see! But…why ‘Orion’? Like, the belt in space???”
Close! – but not really.
I could try to make the connection to Orion’s Belt, but it’d be a waist of our time! *Ba Dum Tss* – Too early for rimshot jokes?
Okay, my bad. Back to your question.
Our name, Orion, is derived from the P-3C Orion airplane – a four-engine turbine-powered aircraft used primarily in the U.S. Navy to help track enemy submarines. It’s also how we think of our approach to our client’s problems.
Our experts come together to create solutions that surpass expectations and address weak points in the sea of engineering issues in our everyday lives. It’s how we’ve grown our catalog of projects and offered services to a multitude of government and private clients.
Our dedication to our clients and providing quality services has been unwavering since our establishment and only strengthens as our team continues to grow. And the end result we share as a team of improving the roadways, bridges, structures, and constructing new projects or ideas that enrich our everyday lives, makes all the work worth it.
We can’t wait to share a behind-the-scenes look at our projects, our highly-skilled engineers, and SO MUCH MORE, coming soon!
“Great! How can I keep updated?”
