Shawon Carlstrom is a knowledgeable, collaborative, and detail-oriented Professional Engineer with extensive experience in project management, design, and construction. As a co-founder of Orion Engineers, Shawon has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and success. He has actively managed over $200 million in construction projects for the Tollway, IDOT, county highway departments, and local municipalities. His diverse project experience includes roadway and bridge reconstruction, rehabilitation, intersection improvements, signal and lighting upgrades, drainage, and subsurface utility improvements.

Shawon’s unique understanding of large civil works projects comes from his extensive exposure to both design and construction management. This comprehensive background enables him to effectively plan, execute, and oversee complex infrastructure projects from start to finish.

Shawon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his family—his wife, three children, and their dog. He is an avid bike rider, a passionate supporter of Chicago sports, and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
